Neo Geo
Neo Geo originated as an arcade system, the Neo Geo MVS, and its home console counterpart, the Neo Geo AES, released in 1990 by SNK. Extremely powerful for the time, the AES plays fully authentic versions of games released for the much larger MVS, but the high price for both the console and its games prevented it from directly competing with the Sega Genesis and SNES. Most known for its 2D fighters, Neo Geo originated some of the best-known fighting franchises, including Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown, The Last Blade, World Heroes, and The King of Fighters, as well as popular games in other genres such as the Metal Slug and Baseball Stars series.
